Skiing trip to Kashka suu
13.1.2018
After 1 week of working hard for the project, it was time for an another excursion outside of Bishkek. This time Polina from AIESEC had organized a trip to Kashka suu for us. Me, Polina and her family, local volunteer Yulia and Para packed ourselves at a mashrutka minibus and traveled to see some beautiful mountain landscapes again!
In Kashka suu we could either go skating or skiing. Polina, Para and Yulia
wanted to try downhill skiing for the first time. So we headed to a skiing
class where the teacher introduced us to the art of pizza skiing for beginners
(crossing your skis so that you slow down and can turn). During the lesson he ended up yelling us "pizza, pizza" a lot... I sort of stuck with us from that moment on :)
After class we had lunch with the people who came with us in the same
minibus. It was like a really big indoors picnic as everyone (except me and
Para) had brought something to eat and shared the food and tea.
In the end I was the only one to ski down from the top of the ski resort
mountain (2270 meters). Yulia, Polina and Para decided to take the elevator down. It was
amazing, for the first time in my life, to ski down from a place where you can see a lot of mountains and you
have a long way to go. I was afraid I would get lost though, so I tactically
followed some other group making their way down. Being an independent adventurer is about being sneakily dependent on people who will never know lol.
Kashka suu trip was a fun day and we were really tired in a good way. Thank you Polina for this adventure! This
time we even managed to get back with no luggage mishap episodes.
